FAQs
If you have 0-3 years experience and are looking to join a top startup, apply now. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Contact us.
If you have 0-3 years experience, and you’re interested in getting a full-time role at a top startup, Jumpstart is for you.
Our generalist programme is designed for people with 1-3 years experience who are looking to accelerate their careers in the startup world, but we will also accept recent proactive graduates.
Our commercial stream is for people with 0-3 years experience (not necessarily in sales!), keen to take the next step in their sales career.
It takes 30 seconds to to apply (just upload your CV), so it’s worth doing even if you’re not sure what exactly you want to do!
Some people who join us have a very specific idea of the role and company they want to work for, others are very open.
Either way, it’s worth applying to the programme (it takes 30 secs to apply with your CV). We’ll talk you through your options and help you find the perfect role for you.
Yes! You can apply now and choose a future cohort starting date, either this year or next.
Yes you can still apply! We’d encourage you to look into all of your options so you can decide what’s for you. We’ve had candidates join Jumpstart when they had offers from corporates, but ultimately end up choosing a startup.
We are able to consider applicants that are on a Graduate Visa (2 years post-study Visa), or able to obtain sponsorship themselves. However, we are unable to provide sponsorship to graduates or students on the programme.
We close applications 3-4 days before the cohort start date.
The final stage of the Jumpstart application process is a 45 minute interview with a member of the team.
Just prior to the interview, you will be given a 40 minute task to complete. The first half of the interview will focus on discussing this task, and the second half will focus on your interests and motivations in being part of the programme.
Interviews are held anywhere between a month and a week before your preferred cohort start date.
You can expect to receive an update on your application status within two weeks of your preferred cohort’s start date (the cohort that you applied to join). If this date has passed, please contact us for an update.
We will only take your most recent application into consideration, so if you accidentally apply with the wrong CV/information etc. please resubmit your updated version!
If you initially applied for one cohort, but have since decided you’d prefer to apply for a different stream or start-date, please re-submit your application, selecting the updated criteria.
We will only take your most recent application into consideration.
It’s free! There’s no cost to you or your salary.
All of the startups we work with are incredibly invested in their teams, and want to work with great people, so they pay us a fee when they hire someone through our programme (this fee is independent of you and your salary).
Our generalist and commercial streams occur almost every month, or every 4-6 weeks. You can see an updated list of cohort start-dates on the application forms.
Absolutely! Contact us and we’ll put you in touch with alumni on the team.
If you’d like to find someone else who has completed the programme, feel free to reach out to any of our alumni on LinkedIn.
Yes please! Some of our best candidates have come via referrals, so we always appreciate it when you put someone forward for the programme.
Plus, if you refer someone who ends up getting a job via the programme, we’ll send you £50 as a thank you.
All salaries are negotiable, but tend to be in this region, most often with shares or options on top:
Generalist: £30,000-£50,000, depending on experience, plus equity.
Commercial: £30,000-£50,000, depending on experience, plus equity and bonuses.
The Founder’s Associate role is one we really specialise in on the Generalist Programme. It is best summarised as being ‘the right hand person’ of the founder, helping them with all ‘non technical’ aspects of the business when a startup is in its infancy. This can include fundraising, helping with building and structuring the team, strategy, analysis and customer interviews, as well as marketing. It is a very cross functional role which helps you work out where you want to specialise in the future.
Caitlin, one of our team members, has summarised how the role can develop in this post.
Not if you apply for a startup through Jumpstart! You may have heard the statistic that 99% of startups fail. Well, not our startups!
We hand-pick the lineup of startups for each cohort based on a number of criteria, including:
- Financial security: your startup will be well-funded or VC-backed!
- Impact and Innovation: we select startups that are having a positive impact on society, and are doing something different and exciting
- Support: we make sure our startups are ready and willing to put in the work to support you, and help you thrive in the startup world.
This means that any startup you join through Jumpstart will offer you a stable, supportive career. Plus, the Jumpstart team are always there to support you on the role and address any questions or queries!
