3 Minute ReadEllie studied at Cambridge before joining Jumpstart's March cohort last year. She started working as a Membership Executive and is now Community Manager at The Joy Club.
The Joy Club is on a mission to help people enjoy their retirement. Their membership platform offers tons of fun online activities, helping retirees making meaningful connections. Hannah Thomson (CEO and Founder, The Joy Club) said in her Jumpstart Startup Spotlight that her Granny Jean was the inspiration behind the startup. The mission was a tribute to Granny Jean’s adventurous retirement, which included solo backpacking, volunteering and painting.
As Community Manager at The Joy Club, Ellie spends a lot of time working closely with the members and understanding their needs, as well as facilitating member events. The Joy Club members can join over 30 live online events a month, ranging from Tai Chi to creative writing, where they can learn and connect with each other.
Ellie found Jumpstart helpful for getting an overview of the sorts of roles available, “It was great to hear from a breadth of amazing potential employers first-hand. It cut out the stressful and time consuming process of sending endless applications, and for that I am so grateful!”
